The term Vanguard originates from the medieval French avant-garde which was typically the guard at the front of an army going into battle. The Vanguard was both bold and experimental. As a luxury boutique accommodation, we seek to provide guests with an unparalleled experience.
We believe guests should be able to enjoy the perks of a hotel (gourmet food, high standards of service, designed interiors and fittings) with the home comforts we are all so familiar with but miss when travelling away. Each room in our property has been carefully designed with our guests in mind.
While our history and tradition is important to us, The Vanguard has invested in state of the art technology to ensure a delightful visitor experience. From a generous loyalty programme to keyless locks and digitally monitored climate control – we want to make your stay as easy & comfortable as possible.
The desire to create The Vanguard was born from its founder who was an extensive business traveller visiting up to 15 international locations per year. The experience was gruelling and highlighted particular pain points with conventional luxury hotels. For example, for a family going on holiday, the idea of being cooped up in a single hotel room goes against everything a holiday should be: relaxing, comfortable, delightful and spacious. But to have all of these things would mean renting an apartment which then lacks hotel luxuries such as freshly made linen, room service and continental breakfasts. At The Vanguard, we believe there’s the potential to achieve a balance between the two. Our aim is to offer a selection of luxury rooms and suites that allow the typical hotel guest or visiting family to enjoy a more luxurious experience.
